Building of Rehabilitation Centre Complex for Handicapped People on Russkiy Island

Our paramount project which we want to realize is building of a Rehabilitation Centre complex for physical rehabilitation and social adaptation of handicapped and otherwise seriously ill people, whose condition requires treatment specific and specialized treatment. The proposed layout of the complex is in the area of a picturesque Philipovsky harbor, western part of Russkiy island.

Due to the fact that APEC Summit of 2012 will be held in the city of Vladivostok, Primorskiy region of Russia, Russkiy island will be refurbished with newly build objects of quality infrastructure, connected with the land by a bridge, and will become accessible for reach by transportation in automobiles. This fact is going to ease the access to the rehabilitation complex for all who need its services and for employees.
Large areas of parks and thick forestation of the complex territory, as well as close proximity to the sea will have positive influence on well-being, and even health of patients and guests, as well as provide aesthetical environment, which is a great emotional support for all who are present.

The Rehabilitation Center will be the first and only institution of a kind within the Far Eastern administrative region of Russian Federation. The preliminary conditions and prerequisites for creation of such complex have been present and evident for a long time and we sincerely hope that this project, after all, will be realized. With the quality rehabilitation center within their reach, disabled people and invalids, as well as their relatives, will be able to obtain constant and sufficient medical and rehabilitation treatments, moral support, and psychological help. The rehabilitation center would become a second home for the people suffering handicaps and for those who are disabled or are invalids with very serious injures; the center will be a place for community and communication, mutual support and encouragement to fight the disabilities and psychological discomfort. Disabled people would come to the rehabilitation centre not only to obtain the treatment they would otherwise not find in their place of living for medical insufficiency, lack of financing to satisfy the needs of all who need help; they would come to the centre to find friends and comfortable atmosphere, relieve the stress and revitalize their desire to get well and to be open to life. Guests from Asian-Pacific Rim countries would be welcome to become clients and patients of the Centre, as well as to be sponsors and scientific and research partners.

Outstanding doctors and specialist from all over the country and Far Eastern region would be invited to work in the Centre to ensure the quality of medical consultation and security of patients’ health. The rehabilitation centre would include all the required facilities, and be equipped with latest technologies for cure and treatment equipment, as well as state-of-the-art training facilities for sports and medical exercising.
Architecture of the Complex encompasses a rehabilitation center, swimming pool with sea water and dolphins for aqua-therapy, a horse stable with hippodrome, sports grounds (2 tennis courts, basketball ground); coastline would be divided into the areas for sand beach and a pierce for boats and launches. All objects of the complex would be connected with each other by footpaths, decorated with garden-houses.

Boarding house of the rehabilitation centre would be consisting of two functional blocks: living block for accommodation and a social block for common activities. Living accommodation block would be suitable to house 1000 people, of which 700 would be accommodation for patients (including 500 places for SCI invalids using wheelchairs) and 140 accommodation places for personnel and guests. Social block would consist of cafeteria and a common space, which would have a collateral function of dining hall, capable of accommodating 230 people at a time for dinner. Health rehabilitation centre would include a swimming pool and medical treatment block.
